Superior Services Wins Custom Fabrication Award

In 1940, famed American author and poet E.B. White said “Everything in life is somewhere else, and you get there in a car.” America’s fascination with motor vehicles has only continued to grow – in 2017 alone, 17.25 million new cars were sold in the US, and the team at in Lake Orion, Michigan contributed significantly to that number.
With an inventory of over 500 new and used vehicles on the lot, as well as a full show room and service center, Milosch’s Palace has made a substantial investment in the sales and service experience for their customers. So when their roof started leaking in multiple locations, they knew they needed to address the problem quickly to protect their investment and the customer experience.
The 53,000 square foot facility featured an aged ballasted EPDM roofing system with upwards of 40 skylights and multiple penetrations. Superior Services RSH, Inc. in was called to evaluate the leaks in the roof and present options that wouldn’t disrupt their operations, which are open to customers six days a week.
“Once we were able to get on the roof, we realized just how much was going on up there,” said Derek Heins, Vice President of Field Operations for Superior Services. “Factoring in all of the penetrations and skylights along with the customer’s need for a 20-year warrantied system, we knew right away that Duro-Last was going to be the best solution. The custom-fabricated membrane, accessories and curbs offered by Duro-Last make all the difference in the world on projects like this, cutting down significantly on our rooftop work and eliminating disruptions. And the 20-Year NDL warranty we were able to offer through Duro-Last really gave the building owners the peace of mind they were looking for.”
The Superior Services team ultimately utilized custom-fabricated Duro-Last 50 mil membrane over Duro-Guard EPS Fanfold insulation after removing the existing ballast material. Custom-fabricated stacks and curb flashings provided efficient water-tight solutions for each of the skylights and penetrations, and Roof-Trak III walkway pads provided additional protection for future servicing of rooftop units and skylights.
“This installation didn’t get started until later in the season, so we did end up facing some cold weather challenges that are common for this region of the country,” explained Derek. “But the custom-fabricated flashings saved us a significant amount of time on the roof compared to traditional field-fabrication and we were able to get the project completed in two weeks, which is a much shorter timeline than we could have delivered with any other roofing system. Overall, the customer was really happy with the end result and we were able to provide a solution that is going to keep their thriving dealership watertight for years to come.”
